Gain a high-degree of operational awareness at store level through price-optimization, customer satisfaction, employee management and tight inventory-control. POS transactions are completed and made available throughout the enterprise in real-time. With a flexible system and payment processing options, retailers can use multiple business models and customized screens to meet their individual requirements.

Hold and Recall Hold

Sales clerks have the ability to start a transaction and suspend or hold it to be recalled and completed at another time. Should a customer need to step away from the cash register before completing the transaction, the sales clerk can hold the order putting the sale on a “temporary” hold until the end of the day.


Cumulus returns function is designed to be quick and easy. Customers that are returning an item can view all of their past purchases and choose which item(s) they want to return. Once the item(s) is returned the sales clerk can determine how the customer is reimbursed (cash, store credit, gift cards, etc.).

Customer Quotes

Create customer quotes that are either rung up immediately or saved and recalled at another time. Cumulus provides retailers with the ability to search for a quote based on; employee, customer, date range, and more.

Integrated Gift Cards

Increase sales by allowing interchangeable gift cards to be purchased and redeemed online, as well as in stores.

Refund Gift Card Balance

Refund gift cards through Cumulus’ fully integrated system. Once a gift card is scanned or entered into the system the customer will receive their refund.


Place transactions on layaway which can be paid off in installments. Cumulus takes layaway payments by receipt number or customer name and tracks how many payments are left when the payments are due and much more.

Partial Layaway Pickup

Cumulus also allows for partial layaway pickups. Once a product is paid in full within a layaway transaction the customer can pick up that particular product while the retailer keeps the remaining items until the rest of the order is paid for.

Price Check

Check the price of a product by scanning or entering the barcode of the product. Once the item is scanned Cumulus will show the: price, brand, style, description, attributes, sizes, and QOH. If the barcode is scanned and not identified in inventory, it will inform the sales clerks the “Item Not Found.”

Gift Receipts

Print gift receipts that are not tied to any specific item, price, or payment information. This feature is useful during the holiday season and makes returning gifts a quick and easy process that does not inconvenience the gift giver.

Special Orders

Special orders are created at the Point of Sale. This specific type of transaction is used for items not generally kept in stock, especially those ordered by you from your vendor for a particular customer.

Accept Accounts Receivable Payments

Easily and quickly accept accounts receivable payments in-house. Cumulus can receive most types of payment methods (cash, check, credit/debit card, Apple Pay, and more).

Reprint Last Receipts

Easily print a copy of the receipt from the last transaction. If a customer loses their receipt, and their transaction is the last one on the register reprint it.

Lane/Reservation Management

Manage all aspects of your range with Cumulus Retail. Create reservations, check in customers, assign specific ranges or lanes, offer memberships, define any required waivers, scan driver’s licenses, accept all major forms of payment, and split sales for groups.

Class & Course Scheduling

Offer classes and courses to your customers. Easily allocate the necessary resources for each class (e.g., equipment, lanes, training rooms, instructors). Check-in students, assign students to specific sessions, and track which courses have been completed – all at the POS.

POS Management

Scan/Enter Barcodes and UPC’s

Scan or manually enter barcodes for essential sales functions from the register or on-the-go. If a customer needs a price check on a product or wants to purchase a product, easily scan or manually enter in the barcode(s).

Multi-Select Product Search

Search for multiple products based on style, brand, keywords, descriptions and more while the POS transaction is up and running. Cumulus has the ability to find multiple products in seconds.

Quick-Select Item Menu

Preset products on the Cumulus POS dashboard. To add products to this menu a retailer must go into their products listing and selects the desired products for the menu. The products will automatically appear on their POS products home screen.

Line Item Price Changes

Change the price of an item either by dollar, percentage or set a new price. Retailers can change the price of one or several products in the transaction and have the option to attach a reason code for the price change.

Enter Line Item Notes

Add a comment or note to a product. Create a comment by selecting the line item, and then clicking the notes button. Click edit and enter the note(s). This function is perfect for missing barcodes or UPCs, damaged or mislabeled products and more.

Scan or Enter Serial Numbers

Scan or manually enter serialized items into Cumulus. This function can be done from a register or on-the-go.

Transaction Discount

Apply discounts to a product(s) on a transaction. The discount can be applied to a certain product in a transaction or the entire transaction. Retailers also have the ability to assign a reason for the discount.

Preset Comments

Create preset comments and notes which can be added to a transaction. To create a preset comment(s) go to the notes section in the POS system, create the comment/note and add it to the preset menu. The note(s) will automatically appear on their POS products home screen.

Apply Shipping to a Sale

Apply shipping charges directly to a transaction. The total of the transaction can change depending on the shipping address and the type of product.

Add, Find and View Customers at POS

Add, find, and view customer information from the POS system. There are multiple ways a customer can be entered into Cumulus’ POS system. When a customer is entered, Cumulus will automatically populate the shipping information if needed.

View Customer’s Store Credit

View and select customers with outstanding store credit. If a customer has an outstanding credit Cumulus provides the retailer with the following information name, address, the amount of credit due, when the credit is due, what the credit for, and more.

Driver’s License Swipe

Scan or swipe customer’s driver’s licenses to locate or create customer records. This function helps retailers keep customer logs up-to-date and ensures the checkout process is quick and easy.

Track Zip Codes at POS without a Customer

Track customer orders through zip codes. When a customer inputs their information or swipes their driver’s license their zip code will automatically populate in Cumulus’ database for tracking purposes.

Cash Pickup

Minimize the amount of cash in the cash drawer. Monitor the amount of cash in the register, when the register has a certain amount of money a manager can remove it for security purposes. Cumulus will monitor the amount of cash is the register, the amount removed from the register and more.

Closeout Cash Drawer

Close out registers by entering cash denominations of 100’s, 50’s, 20’s, 10’s, 5’s, 2’s, Quarters, Dimes, Nickels and Pennies. Sales managers can also enter in other tender types like on account transactions and credit cards. The system tracks when the drawer is opened, starting cash, and total end of day actual cash.

Petty Cash Payout

Cumulus allows for petty cash payouts from a register. Cumulus records the employee receiving the petty cash, the register it is taken out of, the date and time, the amount, and any comments that are associated.

Open the register drawer when no sales have been made. Retailers can manage the amount of cash in the register, add more cash to the register, and remove cash as needed.

Product Management

Create and Modify Products on Screen

Create and modify product information in the Cumulus database from a POS screen. This function is useful for tracking sales and inventory of products.

Import New and Modified Products from a File

Enter new and existing products into the Cumulus database. Cumulus seamlessly integrates with a retailer’s systems and once the integration is complete, Cumulus automatically imports the products from the old system.

Vendor Catalog Imports

Browse vendor catalogs and select the items to sell. Retailers can import the items into their Cumulus database, including product descriptions and images. Update against vendor catalogs at customized intervals to ensure the newest products make it to your store shelves, faster.

Change Prices

Change the price products either by dollar, percentage, or set a new price. Whether the price change is to a well-known product or to a recently released product, retailers have the ability to change product prices quickly and easily.

Bulk Changes for Products

Simultaneously modify multiple products and their variation in Cumulus’ system. To do this the retailers selects the product(s) they would like to modify. Once the product(s) are selected the edit products function will appear and the retailer can make the necessary changes.

Multi-Store Tracking

Track inventory and sales across multiple stores. This feature provides retailers with real-time visibility of their inventory across all stores and warehouses. Retailers have the ability to see which of their stores need more inventory, which products are selling the fastest, and much more.

Product and Department Category Levels

Easily assign products and departments category levels. A products category level is a label for the inventory in the POS system. When the inventory is received the retailer will assign it a category level which helps them organize, manage, and off-load their inventory.

Customizable Product Categories

Easily customize product categories. Cumulus provides retailers with the ability to create product categories, which help sort the products when they are received. Product categories can be tailored to fit the specific needs of the retailer.

Size and Color Matrix

The size and color matrix allows retailers to have products and colors in a matrix format. The size and color matrix displays the products in a tabular format, allowing for easy selection of multiple similar products during a transaction.

Predefine Color Pick Lists

The color pick lists provide retailers with the ability to create and use pre-defined color definitions. These definitions can be added to the products descriptions, which help organize and manage products.

Tag Printing

Print tags for merchandise and include the pricing and barcodes. Quickly and easily label inventory as it arrives or if a price tag falls off create a new label at the touch of a button.

eCommerce ready fields

Cumulus has built-in product definitions, which make eCommerce integrations quick and easy. The product definitions are created by the retailer and are easily adjustable. Once the definitions are in, the system can recognize the different product codes and adjust accordingly.

Restrict Time of Day a Product Can be Sold

Prevent certain products from being sold on particular days or during specific hours of the day. The retailer has complete control over this function and can determine if/when a restriction is needed.

Inventory Management

Inventory Adjustments

View real-time inventory feeds, which provide product level links based on the retailer’s available inventory. Retailers can easily see and adjust the amount of inventory they have on hand and give a reason for the adjustment.

Inventory Movement Tracking List

Keep track of inventory at multiple levels of the hierarchy without the need to enter data multiple times. Cumulus allows for real-time visibility of inventory across all stores and warehouses.

Inter-Store Transfers

Easily and quickly transfer merchandise from one store to another. If a retailer has more than one location, and one of those locations is running low on a specific product inter-store transfers can be done.

Inventory Adjustment Category

Inventory adjustment categories in Cumulus are reasons why a product was transferred. Predefined transfer categories include; inventory leveling, stock out, specific product requests and more.

Cycle Counts

The cycle counts feature is designed to take the stress out of counting merchandise. Easily count merchandise by department or category during the year, rather than counting it all at the end of the year which can be stressful and inaccurate.

Physical Inventory

Compare physical inventory counts to on hand counts. Physically counting and recording inventory levels is both tedious and introduces the opportunity for human error this feature eliminates the chances of that error occurring.

Auto Replenishment

Retailers can replenish their inventory based on preset minimum and maximum values. Cumulus will send automated product orders (PO’s) based on what the retailer has in stock. The retailer’s vendor will then fulfill order accordingly.

Serial Numbers

Every product that has a serial number is tracked in Cumulus’ system. Cumulus provides retailers with the ability to track who bought the product, when they bought a particular product, and where the product is purchased.

Acquisition/Disposition Tracking for Serial Numbers

Cumulus’ acquisition and disposition tracking of serial numbers allows firearm dealers to track the firearms they have sold. This feature is key for firearms reporting and tracking.


Perform and Track Shipments

Track non-customer facing shipments of merchandise. Retailers can know exactly where their shipments are when they are going to arrive, and the quantity of the shipment. This feature helps retailers manage and plan their shipments.

Shipping Methods

Retailers can ship directly from their warehouse using integrated shipping tools. Cumulus is integrated with the major carriers like UPS, FedEx, and USPS – allowing retailers to pack shipments and print shipping labels one step.

Shipping Rates

Easily overnight, 2-day ship, or ground ship depending on the customer’s needs. Cumulus also provides customers with the optimal shipping routes, so they can see which route would be the most cost effective.

Picking Tickets

Print pick tickets for merchandisers to pull and ship. The pick tickets are printed alongside their shipping labels and on a shipping label sheets so nothing gets lost in during this process.

Best Store Fulfillment

Cumulus automatically selects the “best” store to ship from based on a retailer’s priorities and preferences such as location, stock levels, weeks of supply, planned promotions, projected sales, staffing and pickup frequency. The retailer can also allow or prevent partial shipments, and rotate stores to prevent over-utilizing their staff and inventory.


Customer Pricing

Set the price of a product based on consumer or seasonal demand, and other factors. Retailers have complete control on how much they would like to charge for their products and Cumulus makes this process quick and easy.


Create and accept coupons from any POS system. With Cumulus, you can create coupon codes which are used to give customers discounts without tying them to any specific store location. Using coupons not only retains customers through incentives and promotions but also gains valuable customer data.

Permanent Markdowns

Permanently markdown merchandise. Once a product is marked down Cumulus has a scheduling mechanism that automatically updates the SKU.

Term Sales (Temporary Markdowns)

Cumulus has a scheduling mechanism that automatically updates the SKU for a certain period of time. Once that time period has ended Cumulus automatically updates the markdown.


Customer Import/Export

Easily import and export customer databases from a retailers system. This function is useful; when entering a new list of customers; marketing to a list of customers; or merging customers already in the database.

Customer Categories

Easily setup customer categories to group them. There are four category types retailers can choose from, and retailers can create multiple customer categories for each category type. This function is useful for organizing and managing customers and their wants and needs.

Customer Types

Customer types are mainly associated with team sales, retailers can search for and report on different types of customers. Once a customer type is created retailers have the ability to link that Customer Type to a GL Sales Group, which will determine which GL Sales Account, Cost of Goods Sold Account, and Discount Account will be affected when merchandise is sold to a specific customer.

Club Memberships with Discounts

Easily setup Club memberships with predetermined discounts. Depending on the level of club membership retailers assign them associated discounts. Club memberships are a great way of gaining valuable customer data and a recurring revenue stream.

Club membership with Points and Rewards

Part of the club membership cards is its ability to track points and rewards that customers have earned. Cumulus will also display the rewards the customer could potentially purchase.

Club ID Card Printing with Photo

Cumulus club photo ID card printing allows retailers to snap a picture of the customer, input the customer information (name, email, address, etc.) and print the card all within seconds of the customer asking for the ID.


Inventory Turns Reporting

Inventory turnover reporting reflects the inventory that is sold during a certain time period. By knowing the turnover rate retailers can plan for future inventory purchases and to optimize stock levels.

Permanent Markdown Reporting

Permanent markdown reporting provides data on how a markdown will affect or is affecting a retailer’s gross margins. This data can help a retailer find the sweet spot for marking down products.

Sell-Through Reporting

Sell-through reporting monitors how long it will take to sell the inventory of a certain product. This information helps retailers manage their inventory, by keeping the right amount of inventory on hand.

4 Week Sales History

Easily monitors the number of sales that a retailer has made in 4 weeks. This information allows retailers to spot sales trends and patterns, in order for them to make the most out of a time period.

Custom Report Designer

The custom report designer allows retailers to build reports of their own. If a retailer is looking for inventory, customer, purchasing, and employee data all in one place the report designer can create a report for them. This feature helps retailers gain a better perspective on their organization as a whole.

Definable Groupings

Retailers can group their inventory based on department, sub-type, category, and more. Retailers can easily manage, monitor, and label their inventory through this feature.

Definable Calculation Functions

Quickly calculate the sum, count, average, minimum, maximum, and more through the definable calculations function. This function saves retailer’s time and money as they can do calculations on the fly without having to worry about human error.

Prior Period On Hand Cost/Retail

Easily compare date ranges for reporting purposes. This function allows retailers to compare specific time-periods in a customized report. If a retailer wants to compare their sales in January 2016 to their sales in January of 2017 this function can reflect that information.


QuickBooks™ Payable Integration

Seamlessly integrate your financial data with QuickBooks payables. QuickBooks is a leading accounting software package developed by Intuit. Cumulus integrates with a retailer’s payables to show debts, loans and more.

QuickBooks™ Online General Ledger Integration

Cumulus also integrates with QuickBooks Online General Ledger. QuickBooks Online General Ledger is a complete record of all financial transactions over the life of the company. The General Ledger holds all the account information needed to prepare financial statements and gathers accounting data from all sub-ledgers. Cumulus allows retailers to manage all of their accounting needs in one place.

Accounts Receivable Payment

Cumulus allows retailers to accept accounts receivable payments in house. Meaning Cumulus can receive any type of payment method (cash, check, credit/debit card, Apple Pay, and more) from customers.

Accounts Receivable Adjustments Categories

Easily perform accounts receivable adjustments by their designated category. Once a category is defined and a payment is associated with that category the retailer can easily track the transactions associated with them both.

Print or Email Customer Account Receivable Statements

Print and/or email customer accounts receivable statements. Once a customer has paid either print or email a copy of the transaction to them or retailers can keep the information for themselves.

Apply Finance/Late Charges

Easily apply late charges or finance charges to a customer’s in-house accounts. If a customer is late on a payment or finance and charges need to be applied Cumulus allow retailers to easily monitor and add the necessary charges.

Customer Terms

Easily set up and monitor customer terms like Net 30. Customer terms can be added to a customer’s details and printed on a receipt. However, it cannot be used to calculate the amount due and when it is due.

On Account Charges at POS

Easily set-up in-house accounts for specific customers, this feature is great for customer loyalty. Once the account is set-up, retailers can track and monitor the account as needed.


At Once Receiving

Receive merchandise in-store without having to create a purchase order (PO’s). Cumulus will send automated PO’s based on minimum and maximum levels, which are set by the retailer when one of the levels are reached.

Purchase Orders (PO’s)

Easily create purchase orders for vendors. Retailers can create PO’s manually by entering the data or Cumulus allows retailers to automate PO’s. Once a minimum or maximum level is reached Cumulus will automatically create and send a new PO to the vendor.

Purchase Order (PO) Types

Easily define or categorize purchase order. Retailers have the ability to create their own personalized purchase order categories based on their specific needs. These categories will depend on what the type of retailer.

Vendor Catalog Imports

Retailers have the ability to browse vendor catalogs and select the items they want to sell by importing them into the Cumulus database, including product descriptions and images. Eliminate the need to manually enter data and reduce errors. Update against vendor catalogs at customized intervals to ensure the newest products make it to their store shelves, faster.

Generate Purchase Orders (PO’s) from Customer Orders

Easily create PO’s from customer orders. Once a customer places an order Cumulus can automatically turn that order into a purchase order, which will be sent to the retailer’s vendor.

Purchase Order Season

Cumulus also allows retailers to create/customize their purchase orders on a seasonal basis. This feature is directed towards retailers who have high and low seasons during the year and need to place a tremendous number of purchase orders during one-quarter.

Receiving Logs

Review all purchase orders with the added benefits of printing, editing the receiver or undoing a receiving for received purchase order and or at-once receiving.

Return to Vendor (RTV/RA)

Easily return products to vendors and add reason to why the products were returned. Cumulus also allows retailers to track the return status, RMA numbers, and more so nothing gets lost during the return.

Drop Shipping

Retailers can drop ship products from their vendor’s warehouse directly to customers, using the vendors shipping labels and company branding. Cumulus also integrates with third-parties, such as Amazon, and sell merchandise on their site while they fulfill the orders for you.

Quick Receiving

This feature allows the retailer to create a new purchase order for the vendor and receive it in a single step without having to double-enter any quantities.

Resources, Rentals & Repairs

Lane Management/Reservations

Easily manage and monitor lane reservations and bookings. Through Cumulus, customers have the ability to create, check-in, and cancel reservations, pick lanes and more. This feature is directed mainly towards firearms retailers.

Resource Management

Retailers can also manage their lane reservations by grouping them together within the system. Retailers have the ability to group certain customers together based on certain characteristics or specific requests.

Track Waivers for Range

Easily track and manage customer’s waivers through Cumulus. Cumulus allows retailers to create a waiver, look at the customer record and add a waiver if needed, and much more. Cumulus will streamline a retailer’s range.


Getting Started Wizard

The Getting Started Wizard is a quick and easy guide on how a retailer can set-up their Cumulus system. The Wizard is a step by step guide on getting a system up and running. The Wizard begins with the retailer entering their store information, sales tax data, tender options, gift cards, coupons, printer options, age restrictions, and goes from there.

System Configuration

Once the Getting Started Wizard is complete, System Configuration is the next step. The Systems Configuration allows retailers to make any future changes. This includes secondary store setup and much more.

User Entry/Edit

Easily edit or add any new employee to the system. When a retailer hires a new employee Cumulus can create a user profile in minutes. That profile will be recognized by all of the systems.

User Groups and Roles
